Blurring. - Motion Blur

Motion Blur.
Motion blur is when the background of a photo is blurred by the movement of either the subject or the movement of the camera.

This photo shows the motion blur in the background. The motion blur creates a contrast between the stillness of the humming bird as it goes to land, while the background seems to be moving as it reveals what the eye cannot see. The positive point of this photo is that the humming bird stands out clearly against the action that is happening, this is a positive factor because it gives the audience the feel of time slowing down as this bird goes to land. I believe that the only negative point of this photo is that the red of the flower does not stand out so bright like the rest of this photo, this is a negative factor because it can easily be ignored by the audience. An improvement I would make to this photo is by using the lasso tool to select the flowers before changing the brightness and contrast.

This photo shows the motion blur of a young girl dancing. The motion blur creates the dancers outfit to look like its moving at a fast speed as well as her legs. Due to the colours of the bottom of her outfit, this photo would show what most people cannot see with the human eye. The positive point of this photo is that the colours and movement of her outfit, creates a more moving feeling to the motion blur. This is a positive factor because it surprises the audience as they see what is captured that they would not ever see in a normal dance pattern. The colours of this outfit also stand out to create a more eye catching photo. I believe that this photo does not have a negative point to reveal. An improvement I would make to this photo is by adding a more eyecatching background behind this photo to make the photo really stand out.

This photo shows the motion blur of a female, moving her head side to side to create two faces. The lightness of the subject against a dark background creates a contrast which lets the photo stand out to the audience. The positive point of this photo is that the two faces show different expressions. This is a positive factor because it shows the audience two faces with different emotions, this then lets them lead onto the question of why the subjects moods have changed and how she creates two faces blended into one. A negative point is that the subjects top takes away the focus point from the faces. This is a negative factor because the audience will look closely at the vast amount of grey colour instead of the actual focus point the photographer has placed.

This photo shows the motion blur of a umbrella spinning around behind the subjects head. By spinning the umbrella behind the subjects head, the photographer has managed to capture what the eye cannot see when the colours and patterns quickly blend together. The positive point of this photo is that by having the umbrella moving, it creates an effect to the audience that it relates to the world spinning, while we all seem to stay still and in focus. The negative point of this photo is that background catches attention as the eye focus point, this is a negative factor because the attention is moved away from the umbrella which causes motion blur. An improvement I would make to this photo is by darkening the background more.

This photo shows the motion blur of an owls wings as it takes into flight. The background also seems to be Gaussian blurred but it continues to link in with the neutral colours of the owls camouflaged wings. The head is also seem to be kept in focus. The positive point of this photo is that the head is kept in focus, this is a positive factor because it creates the feeling to the audience that the owl is heading towards them. The negative point of this photo is that the owl's head is not completely clear, this is a negative factor because it does not pull all the attention a photo should from the audience. An improvement I would make to this photo is by sharpening the mask of this photo.

This photo shows the motion blur of a teddy being spun around. By creating the motion blur of this photo, the teddy is resembled as a childhood memory showing an old childhood thrill of a roundabout. The positive point of this photo is the bright colours that contrast against eachother. This is a positive factor because it draws in more attention as people could relate to the scene. The colours and motion blur also bring a happy and excitement to the atmosphere. I believe that this photo does not have a negative point which can be shown or spoke about. I believe that there is no improvement which can be made to this photo either.
