Shape.

The dictionary definition of Shape is:

1. The quality of a distinct object or body in having an external surface or outline of specific form or figure.
2. Something seen in outline, as in silhouette.

Describing words:
Square. Circle. Concave. Asymmetrical. Silhouetted. Straight. Symmetrical. Tapered. Three dimensional. Quadrilateral. Misshapen. Arched.

My own definition of Shape is:
Shape is the three dimensional appearance of an object in society.

Annotated photographs of Shape:

In this photograph we can see the shape of a circle at the beginning of the building structure, we can also see the arch shaped windows coming down towards the camera from all angles. The shape is shown through the window holes and the top opening. The positive point of this photograph is that circle shape at the beginning of the structure is the focus point, this is a positive factor because the eye focus point brings the attention to all the arched shapes windows after the circle shape. The negative point of this photo is that the photo is very basic, this is a negative factor because the photo does not stand out clearly like others towards the audience. An improvement I would make to this photo is too apply a shaped cloud inside the circle to really draw in the attention. 

In this photograph we can see the shape of a heart in a locket form against an old fenced panel. The shape of this heart with its patterns also draws in the attention as the focus point and creates the audience to think of topics as love, couples, loneliness. The positive point of this photo is by having a heart locket against an old fence panel, the heart shape has an ambiguous meaning towards the audience, this is a positive factor because it keeps their attention and creates their minds too wander. I believe that this photo does not have a negative point or improvement to reveal. 

In this photograph, we can see the circle shape of marbles. These marbles also have a link in with reflection as they seem to reflect the background behind the camera on them. The shape of these marbles stand out clearly against the dark background, this is a positive factor because it catches the audiences eye as they may pass by this photo alone. The negative point of this photo is that it is extremely basic and will create the viewer to become very uninterested. An improvement I would make to this photo is to change the colours of all the marbles while placing patterns on them also of different shapes e.g. more circles or lines. 

In this photograph, we can see the three dimensional shape of a red pear but also the two dimensional shape of a heart placed inside. Even though pears are not actually the colour red, this photo reveals more ambiguous meanings to the audience, creating them to have separate views. The positive point of this photo is that there is two different dimensional shapes placed inside of each other, this is a positive factor because it gives the audiences different opinions on it's uniqueness of its man-made shape. I believe that this photo does not have a negative factor. An improvement I would make to this photo would be to crop most of the wooden table away to get a closer view of the pear. 

Work Diary:
In todays photography session, we had too shoot shape. I found this slightly an easy topic to shoot as there is shown to be shape every where in everyday life, but then I found it slightly hard because I had to adapt and not look at everyday life in that sense but in shapes no matter what the object was.

This is my first selected photograph that I have captured and edited. In this photograph, we can see the circle shape of a tube as it comes out the ground. The mud is shown to tumble from inside the circle shaped tube but also around the tube. The positive point of this photo is that the tube is in colour while to soul is all black and white, this is a positive factor because by keeping the tube in colour the shape of it stands out clearly towards the audience. The negative point of this photo is that the part of the tube that is broken is slightly out of focus and the main focus point, this is a negative factor because it draws the attention away from the shape of the tube. An improvement I would make to this photo would be too try and clone most of the soil over the tube parts to cover this up. 

This is my second selected photograph that I have captured and edited. In this photograph, we can see the circle shaped metal coming up from the original smooth metal. This is a macro close up shot of the metal drain coverer. The positive point of this photo, is that the macro close up of a metal drain coverer is a more unique view of an everyday object and will attract an audience, this is a positive factor because it gives the audience and insight of different views of everyday objects. I believe that this photo does not have a negative point or improvement to reveal. 

Further development:
For further development I would like to select my second chosen photograph before creating it into a magazine. This magazine will be based on outdoor building and tips. I will make up the stories on the front cover and the name but have this as the background photo to draw the 'customers in'.
