Free - Studio session
In this session, we had the choice, of going off too the studio, to create our own photographs and photoshop them. I found todays session a little more harder because I had no plans and had no idea on what I wanted to do. When I went into the studio, I found a fan and decided to use this to copy the 'Hair blowing' photographs like the ones on the magazine covers while comparing them to normal, straight photos with a white background.

My two selected photographs:

This is my first selected photograph with a white background. In this photograph we can see the girl playing with her hair, as she looks up with big eyes to the right hand side of the camera. In her expression, we can tell that she is thoughtful or daydreaming. The positive point of this photograph is that she looks up into the right hand corner of the photograph, this is a positive factor because it creates the viewer to become curious to what she is actually looking up too, and why her hand and hair is positioned the way it is. The negative point is the background colour as it's a mixture of white and cream when it moves nearer to the subject, this is a negative factor because it becomes a major distraction for the viewer from the actual model. An improvement I would make to this photo, is to select the background and use the levels and curves to get the background to go completely white.

This is my second selected photograph in the free studio session, but this time I used the black background. In this photo we can see the movement of the models hair as it is blown to one side as she looks just a little below where the camera was positioned. The left hand side of her face and hair is shown to be lightened more to the right side of the photograph. The positive point of this photograph is the way the hair is captured blowing to one side, this is a positive factor because it gives a more dramatic feeling to the audience as if the photo was taken for a magazine cover. The negative point of this photograph is that there is too much soft focus used, this is a negative factor because it becomes noticeable on the models hair which can create the photo too lose its dramatic appearance to the viewer but also look unrealistic. An improvement I would make to this photograph, would be to lower the opacity of the gaussian blur level, before using the rubber tool to remove it from the hair.

Further improvements:
For further improvements, I would like to use the first selected photograph for my physical experiments. In this physical experiment, I would rub an old tea bag across the photograph to produce an old texture and appearance before tearing the edges off slightly.
