Contrast One
In this photography session, we had to go outside and take photos of contrasts. To begin with, I found trying to find everyday contrast extremely hard. Later during the session, I decided to use different ideas involving models body parts e.t.c to show the contrast such as skin colours but also how I could take multiple shots to show mental illness contrasting against those who don't have them.
Two selected photographs:
This is my first selected photograph, in this photograph we can see the contrast between two models skin colours and hair colour while their eye colour seems to stay the same. The positive point of this close up photograph, is how the eye colours are exactly similar while the skin colours are different on a big scale, this is a positive factor because while the eyes draw in the attention from the audience, the audience can quickly notice and accept the contrast which is shown obviously but can be easily ignored in everyday life. The negative point of this photograph is the small spots which are located on the models skin, this is a negative factor because it becomes a distraction from the 'big picture'. An improvement I would like to make to this photograph, would be to use the spot heal tool and carefully remove all the noticeable spots.
In this photograph, I chose to use the topic of power to show the contrast. As the viewer can see, one model is being shown to stand on another curled up and reaching for the camera, while the main powered subject keeps the hands on the hips position to show confidence. The positive point of this photograph is the models positioning with the camera positioning, this is a positive factor because the audience can feel the crushing atmosphere of the standing model while relation with the depression and fear from the laying model, creating mixed emotions. The negative point of this photograph is the lighting creates the photo to become pixelated, this is a negative factor because it creates the photo to become unprofessional looking and a complete distraction all together from the contrast being shown. An improvement I would make to this photo, is to lasso tool the lighting flares and darken them, before using the sharpen tool at a higher level.
Further improvements:
For my further improvement, I would like to continue the improvements of my second selected photograph, before using it to create a 'work' magazine about how to overcome the contrast of controlling and dominant behaviour.
