Connecting Essay - 2.
Katherine Clark
In this photograph taken by Katherine Clark, we can see a young girl with a tilted head looking towards the camera. Her face is also seen to be in a soft focus. With the background showing quite a bit behind her, the models face stands out clearly with no distractions. The positive point of this photo is that there is no distractions drawing away the attention from the model, this is a positive factor because it means that the audience would not become confused or lost inside the photo for the wrong reasons. I believe that this photo does not have a negative factor or improvement to reveal.
In this photograph taken by myself, we can see a soft focus photo of a models face at the left hand side. The background behind her is shown in also a large amount. The positive point of this photo is that while the photo is all soft focused on her hair and face, the models eyes stand out extremely. This is a positive factor because the audience are automatically drawn into gazing at her eyes as they feel like she is staring right out at them. I believe that this photo does not have a negative factor but I would like to lighten her face more as an improvement too make her stand out more against the background.
These two photos connect due to the choice of models, which are young girls, but also the fact that there is a lot of background shown behind these models and the positioning is kept as a close up of their face to the left hand side of the photograph. If I could use an improvement to make these photo's look more exact, I would change the background of my model to white by changing the lighting, I would then let my model tilt her head to the left instead of the right.
